Polystachya pubescens

This is a small epiphyte/lithophyte native to South Africa and Swaziland. It forms large clumps on rocks and trees in cool, moist and shady conditions at low elevations, thus it can be grown in intermediate to warm conditions in cultivation. The inflorescence bear up to twelve flowers in October and December in the wild and May to June in cultivation. The inflorescence arises between the leaves on the young developing pseudobulb. The flowers are a bright golden yellow, lined with red streaks on the inner surface of the basal half of the lateral sepals. The lip has a few long white hairs on the upper surface.
