Phragmipedium pearcei

This is small cool to warm growing terrestrial/sometimes lithophyte from Peru, Colombia, Costa Rica and Ecuador. It can be found growing on boulders within rivers at elevations up to 1200m. The growths are close together, and there are no psuedobulbs. The erect and terminal inflorescence blooms with non-fragrant flowers in the summer. This species was named after Pearce, and English orchid collector of the 1800s.
