Euchile citrina

Called the Daffodil or Tulip, Limoncito (Little Lemon) or Citrus orchid, this epiphyte can be found growing in Mexico in dry, open and cool forests at elevations of 1300 to 2600 m. It requires a lot of water during active growth, but once the pseudobulbs are mature a dry rest is required in order to induce flowering. Moderate shade and humidity should be provided as well as cool to warm growing conditions with a winter minimum temperature of 10 - 15C. This species is best mounted due to its pendulous nature, the inflorescence produce two pendulous flowers that are sweetly scented of citrus and have yellow petals, sepals and a large yellow lip; it blooms in the spring and early summer.
