Dracula erythrochaete

The Red-Tufted Dracula is a miniature sized epiphyte with creeping rhizomes that is found from Costa Rica to Northern South America at altitudes of 1250m. It is a cool to cold growing species that requires full shade and high humidity. It is best grown in a basket to accommodate the flowers pendulous nature. There are up to three flowers per inflorescence that open in succession in the spring and summer. The sepals are slightly hairy and white gradated into dark brow spots in the centre with a white lip.
