Dendrobium secundum alba
The name of this species refers to all of the flowers facing in one direction. This medium to large sized cane species can be found in Southeast Asia and the Indonesian Islands in semi-deciduous and deciduous dry lowland forests as well as savanna woodlands. It prefers cool to hot growing conditions with partial shade. Blooms occur in late summer though late spring on previously mature psuedobulbs; the glossy and fragrant flowers do not open well. Best mounted to accommodate pendulous growth, this species also requires a dry winter season with reduced water/fertilizer until new growth appears.
