Dendrobium anosmum

The name Unscented Dendrobium should not be heeded as this species is rather fragrant. It is a large sized cane orchid native to Malaysia, Laos, Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. Found mainly in lower primary forests this deciduous species prefers warm to hot growing conditions with partial shade. A dry season is required starting in October till new leads appear, it will bloom in the spring if these conditions are provided. Best mounted on tree fern for pendulous nature, and requires heavy watering and fertilizing with new growth.
