Brassavola nodosa
This is one of the earliest New World orchids to be discovered in 1691. It is an epiphyte and sometimes lithophytes found from the West Indies, Mexico and Central America to Venezuela and Peru. It grows at low altitudes in rather dry conditions. This species requires less water during flowering and should be provided with bright light, high humidity and intermediate to hot growing conditions with a summer maximum of 30C and a winter minimum of 15C. This species blooms in all season, the inflorescence bear one to six flowers that are fragrant at night.
