Aeranthes arachnites

This is one of the larger species and is widespread in eastern Madagascar. The long peduncles are completely covered by overlapping bracts which turn browm or black by the time the flowers appear. Flowers are cream or yellow, the spur inflated at the tip, opening successively in the winter to autumn.
